DOJ probed about possible retaliation against Hunter Biden whistleblowers

by | Apr 2, 2024

House Republicans are investigating the Department of Justice regarding potential retaliation against whistleblowers associated with its impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, according to letters obtained by the Daily Caller on Tuesday.

The letters were addressed to AG Merrick Garland, Special Counsel David Wiess and U.S. Commissioner of Internal Revenue Daniel Werfel. Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith are inquiring about potential retaliation against specific whistleblowers that were involved in the Biden investigation.

The letters allege that Hunter Biden, along with his legal representatives, initiated an intimidation campaign against the whistleblowers. Lawmakers have called on the DOJ to inform their respective committees whether investigations into these matters are underway.

The lawmakers reiterated their request for the Department of Justice to furnish their respective committees with documents and communications pertaining to any investigation into the whistleblowers, as indicated in the letter. They argue that complying with this request will help ensure that the Department of Justice is not engaging in retaliatory actions against the whistleblowers.
