House COVID-19 Committee Chairman Brad Wenstrup requested access to former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Anthony Fauci's cellphone and personal email records on Wednesday.
The request comes before Fauci's planned testimony next week before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. Wenstrup cited new evidence suggesting that Fauci used his personal email and cellphone for government communication.
This request also follows an email from Fauci’s Senior Advisor, Dr. David Morens, to former EcoHealth President Dr. Peter Daszak, indicating that he could send messages to Fauci privately to avoid Freedom of Information Act requests.
Wenstrup expressed concern over the new information, prompting an investigation into a “secret back channel” that Morens mentioned in a separate email.
