Chris LaCivita, Trump campaign senior adviser, to Direct Campaign and RNC Spending

by | Feb 14, 2024

Chris LaCivita, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, is poised to assume control of a GOP initiative projected to allocate $1 billion for the 2024 race. This move effectively integrates Donald Trump's campaign with the Republican National Committee, further solidifying his influence within the party.

Trump's decision to appoint LaCivita, one of the top two officials in his campaign, as the chief operating officer of the RNC will blur the lines between the two entities, effectively making them indistinguishable.

While it's common for a party's presidential nominee to assume control of the party apparatus, Trump's preemptive move to assume leadership within the GOP suggests a strategic expansion of his influence that may extend far beyond the 2024 presidential campaign, even before securing the official nomination.

Trump seeks to deepen the integration between the RNC and his campaign by nominating his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, as the party's co-chair. Additionally, he has thrown his support behind Michael Whatley, the North Carolina GOP chair and another staunch Trump supporter, to replace Ronna McDaniel as the chair of the RNC.

LaCivita informed Axios that the Trump campaign and the RNC will collaborate seamlessly to ensure President Trump's return to the White House.
