Brazil's highest court has ordered the immediate suspension of X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, after its owner, Elon Musk, refused to comply with orders to appoint a legal representative in the country.
The move marks the climax of a months-long standoff between Musk and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who has been leading efforts to combat the spread of âfake newsâ and âhate speechâ, which he argues are threatening Brazil's democracy.
