On Monday, the Air Force unveiled a significant overhaul of its force posture, aiming to implement “sweeping” changes to reshape both the military branch and the Space Force. The goal is to enable the U.S. to address the evolving landscape of security threats worldwide.
In a press release, the Air Force described the modernization efforts as “one of the most extensive recalibrations in recent history for the Air Force and Space Force,” unveiling 24 initiatives to achieve these ambitious objectives.
The notable development is the establishment of a new command center named the Integrated Capabilities Command, which will oversee designated areas of the military branch.
According to the Air Force Times, this new command center will manage new investments and operational concepts, allowing other command centers to concentrate on daily operations instead of future planning.
Additionally, the Space Force will introduce a new field command called the Space Futures Command. This entity will be responsible for conducting experimentation, wargaming, and mission planning.
Another significant initiative involves the expansion of training programs under the Air Education and Training Command (AETC), which will undergo an official re-designation to the Airman Development Command (ADC).
The enhanced focus is geared towards expediting training processes and empowering the ADC to nurture airmen throughout their entire service tenure, facilitating streamlined training transitions as they move across the force.
