Ukraine’s parliament approved energy executive Sergii Koretskyi as the country’s new prime minister, making him the third wartime leader to take the role.
Koretskyi, 48, comes to the position without prior government experience or political party ties. An engineer and economist by training, Koretskyi has spent more than two decades in the energy sector, working across oil production, refining, energy retail, wholesale operations, and international finance.
Since May 2025, he has served as CEO of Naftogaz, one of Ukraine’s largest state-owned companies responsible for much of the country’s gas production, imports, and supply. Before that, he led Ukrnafta, the country’s largest oil company and part of the Naftogaz group.
Before joining state energy firms, Koretskyi held leadership roles at Western Oil Group and Continuum Group, including serving as CEO of Ukraine’s major fuel station chain WOG.
