Trump requests deadline delay in classified documents case

by | Apr 18, 2024

Trump's lawyers in a court filing Thursday told Judge Aileen Cannon that jury selection in his Manhattan hush money case is “proceeding expeditiously,” contending that this is good reason for Cannon to postpone some filing deadlines in his classified documents case in Florida.

Trump is requesting that Judge Cannon set the deadline for three weeks after the conclusion of the hush money trial, explaining that his two head lawyers in the New York case, Todd Blanche and Emil Bove, are also his head lawyers in Mar-a-Lago.

“Simply put, President Trump and his counsel cannot prepare—or even discuss—the required filings anywhere but an appropriate SCIF, a virtually impossible task given President Trump and Messrs. Blanche and Bove's involvement in People v. Trump,” the filing contends.
