Trump’s legal team is seeking to postpone enforcement of $355 million judgment

by | Feb 22, 2024

On Wednesday, President Trump's attorneys asked for a 30-day extension to pay the $355 million business fraud verdict that was handed down to him last week.

Given the size of the judgment, the attorneys claimed that New York Attorney General Letitia James is acting in an “unseemly rush “to enforce the decision

After the verdict is handed down, Trump would have a month to raise the money necessary to pay it. The verdict's actual execution would be postponed by 30 days as a result of the request made on Wednesday.

James had previously threatened to seize some of Trump's assets if he wasn't able to raise the money.

As part of the judgment against Trump, he was also barred from running a business in New York for three years.

The decision will be appealed, the president has vowed.
