Trump files new appeal in hush money case

by | Apr 10, 2024

Lawyers representing President Trump have lodged another appeal in the hush money case, contesting the trial judge's decision to prohibit him from asserting presidential immunity as an argument.

Trump's legal team is also challenging Judge Juan Merchan's alleged refusal to recuse himself from the trial and a prior ruling regarding the public disclosure of case proceedings.

The two-page court filing alleges that Judge Merchan went beyond his authority in his ruling, asking for a May 6 hearing of the appeals court.

Update: This attempt to delay the trial  (Trump’s third attempt this week) has been denied.
