Trump considering advisory role for Musk: WSJ

by | May 29, 2024

President Trump and Elon Musk have reportedly started speaking on the phone several times a month, discussing various topics, including the possibility of Musk taking on an advisory role in a potential second Trump administration, The Wall Street Journal reports.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the advisory role that Trump has suggested for Musk would be akin to the position held by former Marvel chairman Ike Perlmutter. Perlmutter, a longtime acquaintance of Trump, quietly influenced policies at the Department of Veterans Affairs during Trump's administration.

The Wall Street Journal also reports that Musk, along with billionaire Nelson Peltz, is investing in a data-driven project aimed at preventing voter fraud, an issue that has been a longstanding focus for Trump.

Musk and Peltz informed Trump about their voter fraud prevention plan during a meeting in March. They also briefed him on their private efforts to persuade elite business leaders not to support Biden in the upcoming election.

Musk has emerged as one of Biden's most prominent online critics, using his massive X platform to attack Democrats and amplify Trump's messaging on key issues for the 2024 election. While Musk hasn't officially endorsed Trump, the two met privately in March as Trump aimed to bolster his fundraising for the general election.

Since then, Trump and Musk have developed a closer relationship, frequently exchanging views on topics such as immigration, electric vehicles, the U.S. Space Force, and Musk's various companies, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Elon Musk, who voted Republican for the first time in 2022, has become a vocal critic of DEI policies and the Biden administration's handling of the southern border.
