President Trump and the Republican National Committee raised a combined $141 million in May, an impressive amount largely driven by his criminal conviction last week, campaign officials reported on Monday.
The $141 million matches the combined total raised by Biden and the Democratic Party in March and April.
These figures, pending verification through federal filings later this month, mark his most successful fundraising month in 2024. Lara Trump, co-chairwoman of the Republican National Committee and Trump’s daughter-in-law, noted that $70 million of the total was raised within 48 hours following his conviction.
The reported $141 million includes “hard dollars” that can be directly utilized by the Trump campaign and the R.N.C. Additionally, the Trump campaign announced that $150 million had been raised last month by unidentified organizations supporting Trump, likely referring to outside groups backing his campaign.
Even before his conviction, Trump had been improving his fundraising performance since emerging as the presumptive Republican nominee. Following Trump’s conviction, his campaign reported raising nearly $53 million online within 24 hours, which is included in the $141 million May total.
President Trump has also been successful in attracting major Republican donors who previously withheld support. On Monday afternoon, billionaire venture capitalist Doug Leone, who had distanced himself after the January 6 Capitol riot and supported Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, announced his renewed backing for Trump.
