The General Services Administration announced Thursday it has signed an agreement with Elon Musk’s xAI, giving federal agencies immediate access to the company’s Grok 4 and Grok 4 Fast models through March 2027. The deal is aimed at modernizing government operations and accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence.
Calling xAI models “the most capable in the world,” CEO and co-founder Elon Musk said in a statement to Fox News: “Thanks to President Trump and his administration, xAI’s frontier AI is now unlocked for every federal agency empowering the U.S. Government to innovate faster and accomplish its mission more effectively than ever before.”
GSA Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum called the tools “essential” for fulfilling Trump’s pledge to win the global AI race and to build a more efficient government. He said xAI distinguished itself with world-class talent and warned that as AI evolves, ensuring Western values remain embedded in the technology will be crucial.
Under the agreement, xAI engineers will support federal agencies in deploying Grok models through established procurement channels. The program is part of the GSA’s OneGov Strategy and includes an upgrade path to federal compliance standards under the Risk and Authorization Management Program.
