President Trump is set to attend a summit of world leaders during his visit to Egypt next week, with the meeting aimed at strengthening international support for Trump’s Gaza peace plan, as negotiations continue over post-war governance, security, and reconstruction.
The summit is being organized by Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, who has extended invitations to several European and Arab leaders. Sources said leaders or foreign ministers from Germany, France, the U.K., Italy, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Indonesia are expected to participate. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not expected to attend, according to a U.S. official.
The president is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Monday morning local time to address the Knesset and meet with families of hostages. Later that day, he will travel to Egypt for talks with Sisi and a signing ceremony with the other guarantors of the Gaza peace deal—Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
The leaders’ summit is expected to take place Tuesday morning in Sharm el-Sheikh, where peace negotiations were held, though sources said the schedule could shift to Monday.
