Poll Brands Joe Biden Worst President in Nearly 50 Years

by | Dec 6, 2024

Joe Biden has been rated the worst U.S. president of the last half-century, according to a new poll that delivered a scathing assessment of his tenure.

The exclusive Daily Mail survey asked 1,006 registered voters to rank the last nine presidents. Biden, who leaves office on January 20, 2025, came in last place, with 44 percent of respondents ranking him among the worst two presidents and only 14 percent placing him in the top two. His net score was 30 points underwater, trailing even Richard Nixon, who resigned in disgrace during the Watergate scandal.

James Johnson, co-founder of J.L. Partners, the firm behind the poll, described the results as “diabolical” for Biden. “While there’s often a recency bias against incumbents, Biden’s numbers are worse than expected,” Johnson said. He pointed to key events such as the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, ongoing issues at the southern border, and concerns about Biden’s age and leadership as factors that voters likely considered.

The poll ranked Ronald Reagan as the best president of the last 47 years, remembered for his role in ending the Cold War and boosting the economy. Barack Obama followed in second place, celebrated as the nation’s first African-American president. Bill Clinton ranked third, indicating that Biden’s poor showing cannot be attributed to anti-Democrat sentiment.
