Moscow has cautioned of an “appropriate response” should Ukraine deploy Western-supplied long-range missiles against Russian territory. This warning came hours after Biden authorized Kyiv to conduct such strikes.
Russia’s foreign ministry issued a statement on Monday, declaring:
“Kyiv’s use of long-range missiles to attack our territory would represent the direct involvement of the United States and its satellites in hostilities against Russia, as well as a radical change in the essence and nature of the conflict … Russia’s response in such a case will be appropriate and palpable.”
According to briefings provided to U.S. media, the missile usage by Ukraine is reportedly restricted to targeting areas such as the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces staged an incursion into Russian territory over the summer.
