Marjorie Taylor Greene Presses DOJ and FBI to Probe Georgia Election System

by | Sep 8, 2025

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has formally requested that the Department of Justice and the FBI investigate Georgia’s election system, citing unresolved complaints and failures by state officials to enforce election law stemming from the 2020 election.

In a September 2 letter to DOJ and FBI officials, Greene referenced a July 30 resolution passed by the Georgia State Election Board (SEB) urging the Secretary of State and Attorney General to seek federal assistance in addressing alleged violations tied to recent elections. The resolution specifically cited SEB complaint 2023-025, which alleged “serious error” by the Fulton County Board of Elections during the 2020 election.

Although a negotiated settlement was reached between the Secretary of State and the Fulton County Board of Elections, the SEB determined the issue remains unresolved. In its ongoing inquiry, the SEB issued a subpoena demanding 2020 election records from the Fulton County BOE, but Greene noted the county has refused to comply.

Greene argued that since Georgia’s Attorney General and Secretary of State have declined to investigate or assist the SEB, federal intervention is now required. She urged investigators to examine unreconciled election data, improper procedures, and failures across the broader Georgia election system, including machine-related components.

“Many important issues concerning recent elections have never been fully investigated and require federal involvement,” Greene wrote, asking the agencies to confirm whether they intend to open an investigation.
