Judicial Watch Sues DOJ Over Jack Smith Emails on Trump Investigations

by | Dec 5, 2025

Judicial Watch filed a FOIA lawsuit against the Justice Department Thursday, seeking emails of former Special Counsel Jack Smith with officials in Georgia, New York, and federal offices related to his investigations into President Trump.

The suit comes after the DOJ failed to respond to two requests, including all Smith emails from November 5–13, 2024, and all communications since November 1, 2022, regarding Trump investigations with state, federal, and congressional offices.

Smith reportedly coordinated prosecutions with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. He has also been subpoenaed by the House Judiciary Committee for a deposition regarding the federal cases he pursued against Trump during the Biden administration.
