Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) seeking records related to Jeffrey Epstein’s potential ties to the agency, his business dealings, travel, associates, and the circumstances surrounding his 2019 death.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, follows the CIA’s failure to respond to a FOIA request submitted on July 9, 2025. The request sought documents detailing any intelligence activities or connections involving Epstein, including whether he ever served as an asset for U.S. or foreign intelligence services.

Judicial Watch also requested records concerning Epstein’s financial and business operations, analyses of his estimated $560 million fortune, and his associations with prominent figures such as executives, royalty, and others of potential national security interest. The group is also seeking documents referencing Epstein’s contact lists, properties, and any CIA reports involving those materials.

The suit demands records regarding coordination with the FBI, Department of Justice, and U.S. Marshals Service in criminal investigations tied to Epstein, as well as files concerning surveillance, foreign travel, victims, witnesses, and his death at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York.

The case is Judicial Watch Inc. v. Central Intelligence Agency (No. 1:25-cv-03618).
