Judge rules Trump disqualified from Illinois primary ballot

by | Feb 28, 2024

An Illinois circuit judge on Wednesday forbade Donald Trump from appearing on the state's Republican presidential primary ballot due to his role at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, but held off enforcing her decision on account of an anticipated appeal by the president.

Cook County Circuit Judge Porter sided with Illinois voters that argued the president should be removed from the state's March 19 primary ballot and its Nov. 5 general election ballot because he violated the 14th Amendment's anti-insurrection clause.
