Israel announced Tuesday it had launched an airstrike aimed at Hamas leadership, with an Israeli official confirming that the target was in Doha, Qatar’s capital.
Qatar denounced what it called a “cowardly Israeli attack” on Hamas’ political headquarters in Doha. Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari described the strike as a “flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.”
The announcement coincided with a powerful explosion in the city. Qatari-funded network Al Jazeera reported the blast was linked to Israel’s operation, noting black smoke rising over Doha.
