House Republicans preparing impeachment articles for Biden over Israel aid threat

by | May 10, 2024

Rep. Cory Mills, (R-Fl.), disclosed to Fox News Digital that he is drafting impeachment articles against Joe Biden due to Biden's proposal to cease U.S. offensive aid to Israel.

Mills accused Biden of placing Israel in a “quid pro quo” scenario by using U.S. funds as leverage against the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza. He likened this situation to the Democrats' initial impeachment of President Trump concerning his management of aid to Ukraine.

The ultimatum to Israel's government was made in a CNN interview that aired Wednesday night. In the CNN interview, Biden assured that Israel would still receive U.S. backing for its defensive technologies such as the Iron Dome. However, he emphasized that if Israel proceeds with actions in Rafah, he would not provide the types of weapons historically used in dealing with such situations.

The comments sparked widespread criticism from Republicans and some moderate Democrats. Many GOP lawmakers expressed backing for impeaching Biden, drawing parallels between his decision and Trump's withholding of weapons aid to Ukraine in exchange for announcing an investigation into the Biden family.

Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., urged the House to launch an immediate impeachment inquiry, alleging that Biden's actions were politically motivated.

“The House has no choice but to impeach Biden based on the Trump-Ukraine precedent of withholding foreign aid to help with reelection. Only with Biden, it’s true.” Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. posted on X early on Thursday morning, the first congressman to make the call.
