Georgia court of appeals halts Trump Fulton county case while Willis appeal is reviewed

by | Jun 5, 2024

The Georgia Court of Appeals has temporarily paused proceedings in Trump’s Georgia election case to allow the court to review a trial judge's decision permitting Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to continue prosecuting the case.

The stay specifically applies to Trump and the eight co-defendants who requested the removal of Willis and her office from the case. They allege an improper relationship between Willis and Nathan Wade, who served as a special prosecutor, and admitted to an affair with Willis.

Three judges in the Georgia appeals court are tentatively scheduled to hear arguments regarding the disqualification bid on October 4. The case is being considered during the court's August term, with a decision required by March 14, 2025.
