Documents reveal CDC and social media collusion to control COVID-19 vaccine information

by | Jul 22, 2024

Today, America First Legal (AFL) unveiled new documents obtained through litigation against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These documents reveal evidence of coordination between the CDC and social media companies to censor free speech labeled as “misinformation” and influence public narratives.

The documents detail how the CDC collaborated with Facebook to control information about the COVID-19 vaccine. In an email chain titled “CDC approval requested: FAQ Content,” Genelle Adrien from Facebook sent draft content to Carol Crawford at the CDC for approval. This email involved seeking approval for a “FAQ Content” section on Facebook’s “COVID-19 Information Center.”

Carol Crawford, the same individual who previously discussed using Twitter’s “Partner Support Portal” to remove content, responded by making a few changes. The CDC asked to remove a line stating, “More serious side effects are extremely rare. A person is far more likely to be seriously harmed by a disease than by its vaccine,” noting they had “no cleared language… to support the second and third sentences.” Despite this, the Biden Administration, including Biden, actively promoted the vaccine. In December 2021, Biden warned, “For the unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death… for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm.”

These documents indicate that by May 2021, months after the vaccine rollout, the CDC could not verify that the vaccine was safer than contracting COVID-19 and developing natural immunity. Nevertheless, the CDC continued to urge the American public to get vaccinated.
