Disney and ABC News have reportedly asked the hosts of The View to scale back their political focus. Despite the request, the hosts have made it clear they plan to continue addressing political topics, arguing it’s what their audience expects and values most.
Since President Trump’s 2024 election win, co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin have maintained a sharp focus on criticizing Trump and his administration. But top network executives—including Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic—have raised concerns over the show’s continued emphasis on politics.
Karamehmedovic recently met with executive producer Brian Teta and the panel to encourage a broader scope of topics. He reportedly cited high ratings from celebrity-focused episodes as evidence the show could benefit from less political content.
The hosts pushed back. Navarro argued the audience expects political analysis, especially amid efforts by the Trump administration to reshape government. Ultimately, the group dismissed the request as “silly” and intended to keep doing what they’ve always done.
Navarro also spoke directly with Iger during Disney’s recent Upfront presentation, thanking him for supporting their work. Iger confirmed that support—but reiterated the message to ease up on political rhetoric, sources said.
According to another source, ABC regularly discusses viewer feedback with on-air talent, and in this case, some viewers have expressed a desire for less political content.
Despite the push from leadership, the show remains politically active. This month alone, the hosts conducted an in-depth interview with Joe and Jill Biden, initiated by the Bidens themselves. Recent episodes featured Behar questioning Jake Tapper’s coverage of President Trump’s mental fitness.
