The Department of Homeland Security announced Monday the launch of Operation Midway Blitz, an ICE initiative aimed at apprehending criminal illegal aliens in Chicago and throughout Illinois.
The operation is dedicated to Katie Abraham, who was killed in a drunk driving hit-and-run by Julio Cucul-Bol, a criminal illegal alien.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the operation will focus on “the worst of the worst” criminal illegal aliens in the city. She criticized Illinois’ sanctuary policies under Governor J.B. Pritzker, asserting that such policies have allowed dangerous individuals—including gang members, rapists, kidnappers, and drug traffickers—to remain on the streets.
“President Trump and Secretary Noem have a clear message: no city is a safe haven for criminal illegal aliens,” McLaughlin said. “If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, deport you, and you will never return.”
The DHS statement framed Operation Midway Blitz as a direct response to crimes committed by illegal aliens who were emboldened by sanctuary policies to remain free despite criminal activity.
