A group dedicated to highlighting liberal bias among government officials plans to unveil a list of individuals this summer that they believe could be hostile towards President Trump's policies. Their focus is on career officials who are not politically appointed but hold longstanding positions within the government, often outlasting presidential administrations.
The American Accountability Foundation (AAF) was awarded a $100,000 grant from the conservative Heritage Foundation in May to delve into the backgrounds, social media activity, and public statements of high-ranking government personnel.
Led by Tom Jones, an experienced political strategist and former Republican aide, AAF is compiling a database of government employees they suspect might hinder future presidential efforts.
The initiative, known as Project Sovereignty 2025, aims to publish a list of 100 such officials online by late summer, potentially guiding a new administration in reassignments or terminations.
Trump has pledged to dismantle the deep state bureaucracy if he secures a second term in 2024, and lists like this one could serve as a strategic blueprint.
Jones and his team are gathering information from conservative sources, including government employees, to scrutinize those with left-leaning tendencies. The group is particularly targeting the Department of Homeland Security and other related agencies, which they believe could impede efforts to manage the southern border crisis. The border issue remains a key concern for right-leaning voters as the November elections approach, with Republicans aiming to leverage this in the presidential race.
Conservatives have long argued that the federal workforce is excessively large and frequently overreaches its authority. This sentiment intensified during Trump's presidency when several agencies, particularly the Justice Department and the FBI, were accused of pursuing investigations driven by personal vendettas against Trump.
