In 2021, ABC News disclosed that federal prosecutors in Brooklyn were examining Cuomo's coronavirus task force, with a specific focus on nursing homes. However, no charges were filed.
Republican Rep. James Comer, the chairman of the Oversight Committee, signed the subpoena, granting the subcommittee the authority to issue subpoenas.
In the accompanying seven-page letter to Cuomo, the committee emphasized the significance of his testimony, stating it is crucial as the panel proceeds with its investigation into “the effectiveness of federal guidance and regulations” implemented during the pandemic.
