House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Thursday intensified his investigation into the cover-up of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, sending letters to Biden’s physician and three former senior White House aides demanding they appear for transcribed interviews.
“The cover-up of President Biden’s obvious mental decline is a historic scandal,” Comer said in a statement. “The American people deserve to know when this decline began, how far it progressed, and who was making critical decisions on his behalf. Key executive actions signed by autopen, such as sweeping pardons for the Biden Crime Family, must be examined considering President Biden’s diminished capacity.”
Comer said the committee is seeking answers from White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor, as well as former top aides Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, and Ashley Williams, who were previously subpoenaed during the last Congress. All three were blocked from testifying at the time by the White House, which also ignored Comer’s request for a transcribed interview with O’Connor.
The Oversight chairman warned that “any continued obstruction will be met with swift and decisive action,” and accused the Biden administration of shielding the president’s condition from public scrutiny.
Comer has also issued subpoenas for the audio recordings from Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents, which Attorney General Merrick Garland has refused to comply with. According to revelations in the new book Original Sin, one person familiar with the internal workings of the Biden White House claimed that “five people were running the country, and Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board.”
