In a new memo following the Republican National Convention, the Biden campaign reaffirmed that Joe will be the Democratic nominee despite ongoing party disagreements.
“Joe Biden has made it more than clear: he’s in this race and he’s in it to win it. Moreover, he’s the presumptive nominee; there is no plan for an alternative nominee,” wrote Dan Kanninen, Biden campaign battleground states director, in the memo obtained by The Hill.
Kanninen emphasized the need for party unity, stating, “In a few short weeks, Joe Biden will be the official nominee. It is high past time we stop fighting one another. The only person who wins when we fight is Donald Trump.” While he acknowledged concerns about Biden’s age, Kanninen argued that it did not deter voters.
The memo also targeted Project 2025, a set of policy proposals organized by the Heritage Foundation and associated with Trump administration figures. Despite Trump’s disavowal, with senior adviser Chris LaCivita calling the project a “pain in the a–,” Kanninen highlighted its potential impact on voters.
The memo outlined the campaign's efforts to strengthen its presence in key battleground states like Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan. This comes amid calls from several high-profile Democrats for Biden to withdraw from the race, with Sen. John Tester (D-Mont.) being the latest to join that call.
Biden and his team remain firm in their commitment to his candidacy as they prepare for the Democratic National Convention next month.
