Alvin Bragg files formal request to hold Trump in contempt

by | Apr 16, 2024

The Manhattan DA’s office of Alvin Bragg has submitted its formal request to hold President Trump in contempt regarding a series of recent social media posts including remarks about witnesses Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels.

Prosecutors stated yesterday that three of Trump's social media posts this month “plainly violate” Judge Merchan's limited gag order, as they target known witnesses who are expected to testify at the trial.

Defense attorneys have maintained that Trump's remarks were a response to what they describe as “repeated, salacious, demon attacks” by Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen. The judge has set a hearing on the issue for next Tuesday.
